General note:

Accession consists of records maintained by the Legal Registry office of Transport Canada. These comprise files that contain records associated with Right of Way for the National Transcontinental Railway. The records are the original paper versions. Note that Transport Canada was unable to locate six of the original files that are inventoried in the microfilm copies.

Custodial history:

The records were inherited by Transport Canada from the Department of Railways and Canals.

Microfilm versions of the vast majority of these paper records are found arranged in the Department of Railways and Canals fonds, in the Commissioners of the Transcontinental Railway sub-series (see MIKAN 134612, R610-267-X-E, finding aid 43-55).
