Nowadays it seems that most people are becoming aware of where they come from. Some have gone back to trace their family tree and the bloodline of their ancestors. Alex Haley, a black American lawyer traced his ancestors and compiled his findings in a novel entitled ROUTS. Georgia Boyd, a black Canadian author and publisher tells that black settlement in Canada goes back as far as 1628 and because of her maiden name - Modesty, she suspects that she may have roots in the French West Indies where Modesty is a popular name. In the first of a two-part interview Georgia Boyd talks to Donette Chin-Loy about the search for her roots and her first book ANNE MARIE WEEMS whose co-author is Carol Tremaine.
