According to notes in the original finding aid for accessions 1973-357 & 1974-366, item numbers from this collection should be formatted as YEAR-##. The order was reversed in these photo captions. They have been added to this record in correct order to match the item numbers in the Loose departmental photographs and negatives sub-sub-series.
The individuals in item no. 1950-96 were identified as Mary Posoktok, Margaret Kuptana, and Mabel Ekvana holding baby Lena Tuiligakyok through Project Naming. The goal of this project is to identify and record the names of people, places, activities and events in photographs held at Library and Archives Canada. Inscribed beneath images: 91-1950 - This is the Special Constable's father-in-law at Chesterfield Inlet. 92-1950 - The Special Constable's small house at Chesterfield Inlet. This type of home is supplied by the R.C.M.Police. 93-1950 - This is a picture of those persons who were victims of the polio epidemic at Chesterfield Inlet and who were residing in the Industrial Home at the time of the 1950 Spring visit. It is remarkable that little residual paralysis is found amongst these people. They can all walk quite freely although some do have a limp. Note the lad on the extreme front right whose left foot is somewhat deformed and turned in. 94-1950 - Special Constable's quarters at Chesterfield Inlet. 95-1950 - Eskimo woman and child at Chesterfield Inlet. 96-1950 - Angulalik and his family at Perry River.
