Files in this file classification block are concerned with Companies, Associations and Boards. Nova Scotia issues are paramount, with files on Halifax and Cape Breton Development Corporations and the Atlantic Development Council, as well as files on Nova Scotia First Nations, fisheries and forestry in his province and the Point Tupper Heavy Water Plant. There are also some issue/subject files interweaved throughout this unit. The entities reflect various levels of jurisdiction or mandate, national, provincial, regional and municipal levels. While there are files from labour movements, cultural organizations, ethnic groups, educational and social-welfare organizations and other governmental jurisdictions and agencies, a majority deal with development and requests for assistance for industrial development, business promotion and job creation. In this respect, the files reflect interests ranging from small, local business ventures to international corporations.

There are a number of volumes on the Cape Breton Development Corporation, on Sydney Steel, the Home Oil Company's controversial Canso Storage Project, subjects of interest to the Minister. There are files that deal with the CNR, and the threat of rail line closures, which would affect Allan J. MacEachen's constituents very negatively. Cabinet was also an "entity" - hence there are files on Order-In-Council appointments. And finally, this sub-sub-series has files on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, of which MacEachen was a fellow.
