The files in file classification block 20 relate broadly to Federal Departments and Agencies, including files especially important to the Minister, such as Employment and Immigration, Health and Welfare and departments whose activities touched on Nova Scotia matters, such as Defence and CFB Moncton, the Department of Regional Economic Expansion and the Atlantic Provinces and Public Works with its funding programs. Of note, there are files under the Anti-Inflation Board file title, a significant political concern at that time. Canada Post and Health and Welfare have significant blocks of material, as does External Affairs. Manpower and Immigration has file volumes in this sub-sub-series, along with the related Local Initiatives Program. The Public Service Staff Relations Act has volumes here. MP salaries and Private Members' Bills are also represented here. One can also find various files on Acts throughout this sub-sub-series, correlated with the jurisdictional areas of various departments, such as the Western Grain Stabilization Act and the Unemployment Act. Finally, there are some thematic subject files, such as Private Members' Bills and the Status of Women. Some of these files are informational. Most, however, reflect Allan J. MacEachen's positions or concerns on various aspects of government policy as he and his office addressed key issues of the day, took positions and implemented relevant policies.
