On February 18, 2005, the Public Health Agency of Canada brought together national and international public health officials in an infectious disease outbreak simulation, in order to outline a response to such an occurrence. The event was primarily held at the newly established Emergency Operations Centre in Winnipeg, but involved participants located in Ottawa and elsewhere as well. The participants were: Ujjal Dosanjh, Health Minister; Carolyn Bennett, Minster of State (Public Health); Dr. David Butler-Jones, Chief Public Health Officer at the Public Health Agency of Canada; Dr. Ron St. John, Director General at the Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Response; Dr. Frank Plummer, Director General at the Centre for Infectious Disease Prevention and Control; Dr. Mitchell Cohen, Director at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S.); Dr. Klaus Stohr, Head of the Global Influenza Programme at the World Health Organization; Dr. Horacio Arruda, Director of Public Health Protection at the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services; Dr. Perry Kendall, Provincial Health Officer at the B.C. Ministry of Health Services; and Reg Alcock, Treasury Board President. There was a brief Q&A session with the participants after their presentations. <51mn>
