Alain Dudoit worked as a Senior Advisor and Assistant in Allan J. MacEachen's office from as early as 1974. "MacEachen brought Dudoit over to External on Secondment from PCO in August 1974 to keep an eye on relations between External and CIDA." (Canada's Department of External Affairs, Volume 3: Innovation and Adaptation.). The documents in this sub-series highlight MacEachen's duties and responsibilities as Finance Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for External Affairs from 1980 to 1982, as well as Dudoit's role and his interactions with the Minister and the department. This sub-series includes two sub-sub series: Briefing Books and Notes and PPC III Working Files.
