This sub-series includes two sets of records: press releases and speeches that were created by a variety of federal government departments and organizations. These papers appear to have been used by the Minister's office for informational purposes, often containing handwritten notes and highlighted sections.

Arrangement note:

Normally, this kind of mass- produced and widely distributed departmental or agency ephemera would not be retained. The fact, however, that it contained annotations and evidence of use by the various Offices managed by Allan J. MacEachen, increases its evidentiary value and accounts for its retention here. Both the press releases and the speeches are filed alphabetically under the government department or organization.
