The Canada Works Program was originally a five year community employment initiative developed by the Federal Government in Canada in 1976. The federal government's aim was to promote the creation of jobs with the involvement and the participation of the private sector at the local level. The collection of files in this sub-series is composed of Canada Works Program case files for all twelve counties in Nova Scotia for two years, 1977 and 1978. Originally, the files were part of the 30 file classification system block, a block reserved for Federal-Provincial Relations. As was the case in previous series, the file block here deals with a specific program, here the Canada Works Program, keeping track of the program's level of investment in Nova Scotia. Each file is essentially a roll-up of program activities at the county level.
