While quite varied, this sub-series again, like Sub-series 2 - Minister's Office Loose Files reflects the nature of records found in Sub-series 1 - Minister's Office Coded Files.

There are files on the Minister's Office and several files House of Commons business. Daily journal files hold a record of Allan J. MacEachen's daily appointments for 1969-1970. Then come files on main departmental estimates, programs reviews and forecasts, and various briefings.

Subject files address, among other topics, issues such as Czech refugees, the Point Edward Coast Guard School and student summer employment. There are numerous files addressing issues in immigration and files dealing with manpower issues.

There are some personal files, with one dealing with MacEachen's property on Lake Ainslie, as well as on Atlantic regional development and the Federal-Provincial Conference of 1970. The sub-series is rounded off by press clippings and some speeches.

Arrangement note:

Most of the material in this sub-series is from 1970, the year MacEachen moved to the Presidency of the Privy Council. It may very well be that he just "carried" some Manpower and Immigration files with him into his new office, (something he was wont to do on a systematic, regular basis), which occasioned the creation of this sub-series. This sub-series was aggregated from files found in boxes holding material from MacEachen's second tenure as president of the Privy Council (1970-1974).
