This sub-series includes invitations received by Allan J. MacEachen as the Minister of National Health and Welfare. The invitations reflect many of the significant issues of the mid-1960s, including Labour legislation reform, Medicare, the Canada Pension Plan and the Guaranteed Annual Supplement, as well as Canada's Centennial Celebrations. Additionally, many invitations received by MacEachen included requests to address medical associations and hospitals on the matter of Medicare. There is also a run, organized by month, of approximately 20 files, opening this sub-series, which gives a sense of general activities which MacEachen attended. Closing off this sub-series are invitations from various clubs, organizations and entities which the Minister attended, reflecting his particular interests, such as Highland Games, Celtic heritage, universities, Liberal Party events, various civic organizations, sporting events and associations.

Arrangement note:

Only "accepted" invitations were retained - the refused invitations were discarded. Some files hold monthly roll-ups for the minster's activities, others are agency/organization-specific. Most, however, are files constructed by the archivist, from very many thin, discrete files pulled together by agency or type - for example, invitations from universities, from hospitals and medical associations, from sporting associations, etc, were amalgamated into large files in chronological order
