This sub-series is composed of records relating to House of Commons operations and its committee structure. Allan J. MacEachen became interested in how the House operated and how effectively it worked, preoccupations that were linked to his responsibility for ensuring the efficient passage of legislation through the House. Included in this sub-series is the Bussières Report, as well as a number of files created by Frank McKenna, the future Premier of New Brunswick. These files are concerned with House of Commons committees, their role, structure and functioning. There are also files from William MacEachern, MacEachen's executive assistant, on committees and reform. Other files hold the Government Handbook on Committees, and deal with membership, scheduling and activities. Some files hold material on specific committees. There are large files on Committee Reform, summed up in fat files of MacEachen's Memoranda to Cabinet on Committee Reform.
