Accession consists of records acquired and modified by Fasken, a law firm that was engaged by CDEV to run the sale process for RTI. The records originally come from RTI, but Fasken collected copies in order to provide them for review to prospective buyers. The records were arranged by Fasken into four categories: 'Corporate Records' - consisting of legal and governance records of RTI, 'Historical Records' - consisting of records of RTI interactions with other parties in the federal government, and consultations and agreements with First Nations, 'First Nations Records' - consisting of records from Transport Canada to local First Nations, and 'New Upload as of February 6, 2020' - consisting of newer collection of records of the first three categories that Fasken prepared, where the records of the first three categories reflect records that Fasken had collected earlier in the sale process.

Note that the metadata seen in the finding aid, including titles, file paths, dates, and record types, reflect that these records were specially prepared for transfer to LAC. Titles include a numbering system and arrangement structure created by Fasken, for it to organize the records in a meaningful way for transfer. Consult the Record Category and Record Sub-category (lowest level) columns, as well as full file paths, to identify how records were arranged. File paths reflect the paths as seen on LAC repositories. And dates of modification and access reflect the dates that records were downloaded by LAC staff. Note that many records include dates in their title, but not all. Finally, while all of the records LAC received are digital, not all were born digital. A number of records, such as ByLaws with Amendments.pdf, involve a single PDF document that was stitched together with both digital and analogue records.

Also note that the RTI records in BAN 2019-00666-9 are related, and in some cases, duplicates.

Custodial history:

Records were transferred to LAC by Fasken, the law firm that was engaged by the Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV) to carry out the sale process for the sale of RTI. As part of the sale process, Fasken collected RTI records like these to provide to potential buyers, for them to review.
