Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by Ridley Terminals Inc. and the last Chair of the Board of Directors. The records of the Board of Directors in this accession comprise the final records of the Board over the last few months of RTI's existence, before its sale. These include meetings-related records of the Board and the sub-committees of the Board, as well as other governance records. These records are a continuation of the Board and governance records found in the accession with BAN No. 2019-00293-0.

The records of the Chair of the Board comprise the RTI-related emails of the last Chair of RTI's Board, Michael McPhie, who was appointed to the position in August 2017, and served until the sale closed in December 2019. The emails document the correspondence of the Chair, in their role as the individual responsible towards the Government of Canada for the performance and activities of the institution.

Note that the metadata seen in the finding aid, including titles, file paths, formats, and creation dates, reflect that these records were specially prepared for transfer to LAC. For the Board records, titles were created by the corporate secretary, and those titles incorporate the date of the activity in question. For the Chair records, the emails were exported to PDF format. The Last Modified date in the finding aid reflects the date the records were uploaded to the LAC online portal. The Creation Date reflects the date they were downloaded by LAC. For accurate dates and other metadata for the emails, each email PDF includes the metadata in its contents. All records are expected to have been born digital.

Also note that the CDEV/RTI records in BAN 2020-00001-6 are related, and in some cases, duplicates.

Custodial history:

Records were transferred to LAC from Rebecca Rock, an Associate at McMillan LLP (law firm), who had been engaged privately to provide Corporate Secretary services for Ridley Terminals Inc. As corporate secretary, Ms. Rock was the custodian of RTI's Board records. These records were transferred to LAC through an online portal.
