Collection search - Records of the SLSA [St. Lawrence Seaway Authority] Niagara Library [multiple media]

Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority and held in its Niagara Library collection. The collection consists mainly of reports and studies authored by various bodies, including SLSA, bodies commissioned by SLSA, and other bodies related to SLSA's responsibilities (Seaway infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, canals, locks, etc.). It also includes a small collection of films and negatives related to the Welland-bypass.

Mainly, the records were created by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority (SLSA) but were kept by the successor organization, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC), a private non-profit organization, after SLSA was dissolved in June of 1998. SLSMC took over SLSA's navigational assets on October 1st, 1998. Transport Canada retained ownership of these records following the privatization of SLSA, though the records stayed in SLSMC's possession on a loan basis. After SLSMC scanned the records, they were transferred to Transport Canada, which eventually transferred this collection to LAC.
