Oral history interview by Gary Marcuse, free-lance broadcaster, of Effie Jones, Vancouver leftist and founder of the Tenants' and Owners League - an anti-eviction group. At the age of 93, Mrs. Jones describes her left-wing activities from the 1920s through the 1960s. Topics include her bids for the office of Mayor in Vancouver in the 1940s; her tenant organizing campaigns; her friendship with union and communist party activists; her own political education ; the detention of communists during WWII; and her attempts to hide her left-wing books.

1. While this is an insightful, andengaging account, the interviewee's tendency to ramble off topic hampers the collection of concise information.~2. This interview was recorded for use in the radio documentary, THE COLD WAR IN CANADA, broadcast on CBC "Ideas" as a four part series in 1984 and repeated in 1985.~3.
