The sub-series consists of records relating to Grant's reflection on other religious and philosophical thinkers, particularly Simone Weil, Martin Heidegger, Leo Strauss, among others. It includes correspondence, copies of their works (including private translations), notes, writings, research, and resource material. Grant's articles and lectures relating to Weil are found here, as he kept them separate from his other writings and lectures. In addition to these thinkers, it includes the copies of the works of a few others that have annotations by Grant, and manuscripts and offprints by colleagues, which are inscribed or dedicated to him by the author.

The Simone Weil material includes correspondence with her brother André Weil, mother Selma Weil, scholars Sir Richard Rees, Maurice Schumann, and most notably, with her close friend, editor, and biographer Simone Pétrement. These cover his research visit to Paris in 1963, his reflections on Weil's writings, and his efforts to write about her ideas. In addition, there are six notebooks related to Weil (two related to his 1975/76 course); drafts of articles and lectures about her thought; a transcript of his 1984 broadcast for CBC Ideas, "The Afflicted Genius of France"; annotated copies of Weil's works; and writings by Pétrement and others about her. His papers on Martin Heidegger and Leo Strauss are also of value, including copies of privately circulated lectures by Strauss and several letters from Strauss concerning his controversy with Alexandre Kojève, and Grant's article about them. Some other items of interest include Grant's notes on C. S. Lewis's lectures "Prolegomena to Medieval Poetry" and "Prolegomena to Elizabethan Poetry, dating probably to Oxford, ca. 1945-46. There is also an 1896 edition of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics that includes annotations, apparently, by both Grant and his father W. L. Grant.
