Fonds consists of six letters with original envelopes sent from Léo Antoine Brossard to his brother Georges-Albert Brossard during the First World War. The first letter was written 22 May 1918 while Brossard was in Halifax waiting to be shipped out to Europe. He continued to write through the summer while undergoing training in England. His last letter was written on 6 October 1918 the day before he left for the front. Brossard was killed in action on 18 October 1918.

The letters discuss the war and his experiences while training in England before being sent to the front. They include personal details including his worries for his own health and the health of his family back in Canada, and news about other soldiers. Brossard also requests that his brother not provide details to their mother so as not to worry her.

Brossard, Léo Antoine, 1895-1918 : Léo Antoine Brossard was born 12 June 1895 in Montréal, Québec. He was drafted into military service during the First World War and attested at the rank of Private on 3 May 1918. On 9 October 1918 he joined the 87th Canadian Battalion in France at the front. Just over a week later he was killed in action on 18 October 1918.
