A conscientious surveyor, however, recognizing that a discovery of this importance should be preserved for the use and enjoyment of the public, was instrumental in having the springs and surrounding area declared a park. In 1885, Canada's first national park, Banff National Park, was created. Based on the unpublished memoirs of one of the young prospectors, the story is re-enacted with humour and intercut with scenes of present-day Banff. It describes the historical events surrounding this find, and reminds us of the value of our national parks system." <28mn 30s>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
