Accession consists of records created by the Industry Sector Branches (ISBs) of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce (ITC). Reporting consecutively to the ADM for Operations, the ADM for Industry Development, and the ADM for Industry and Commerce Development, each branch was responsible for research and analysis, providing guidance to the Canadian business community, and administering many ITC assistance programs within their respective field.

This accession consists of records from the Textiles and Consumer Products Branch (and its predecessor Apparel and Textiles Branch) and the Electrical and Electronics Branch. Subjects include studies performed by the branches and their involvement in committees and working groups. These include inquiries of the Textile and Clothing Board, working groups of the Interdepartmental Committee for Computer/Communications Program and Policy Co-ordination, the Electrical Advisory Group, and the Electrical Products Consultative Committee.
