This series contains 18 copies of letters from 1870 to 1873 from François-Xavier-Antoine Labelle (1834-1891), priest of Saint-Jérôme. Sixteen of these letters were addressed to his friend Louis Beaubien (1868-1892), Member of Parliament for Hochelaga in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Quebec (1867-1886) and the House of Commons (1872-1874), one to Thomas Burrough, and one to the publishers of the Gazette. The letters concern the development of the railway on the north shore of Montreal. A photographic reproduction of Father Labelle accompanies the series.

General note:

These letters were in the possession of Mrs. Laurette Beaubien-Perrault at the time they were photocopied by Jacques Castonguay in 1980. The descendants of Mrs. Beaubien-Perrault no longer know where the letters are located. It seems that these are, for the moment, the only copies.
