This accession consists of records that were maintained by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in various record blocks dedicated to "administrative files" in the organization's file classification system.

The accession consists of files related to SSHRC: management and oversight (including organization); legal matters; cooperation and liaison with associations, universities, colleges and schools, the provinces, federal government institutions, as well as international governments and entities; various committees and conferences, meetings, and symposia. Among the management and oversight records included in this accession are the files for the Meetings of Council dating from 1978-2008 and files related to SSHRC's transformation into a Knowledge Council ca. 2003-2004.
