The textual records include three mock-ups for books by Phil Bergerson. The first mock-up for Shards of America (at that time called Shards of Civilization) created in 1998; the second mock-up version for the same publication in 2003; and the 2012 mock-up for American Artifacts. The series includes lecture notes for the Kodak Lecture Series (October 2004) - regarding Shards of America with hard copy lecture notes including notations; and the Ryerson L72 Lecture (April 2014) regarding American Artifacts - the PowerPoint version. Also included in the series are exhibition materials, newspaper clippings, magazine articles and critiques, as well as a selection of promotional material.
