Collection search - Records from the Library of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority [textual record]

Accession consists of information and reference material previously held by the Library of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority (SLSA). The records found in this accession include a variety of internal publications (grey literature) produced by the SLSA, as well as material produced by Canadian and international engineering firms, consultants, or government agencies held by the SLSA for reference purposes. The records in this accession mostly consist of studies and technical reports on various aspects of the St. Lawrence Seaway including: bridge repairs, rehabilitation, and inspections; studies of vehicular traffic and load capacity of various bridges; inspections and technical details of locks and wharfs in various canals; hydro facilities on the St. Lawrence Seaway; ship collisions and shipwrecks; formation of ice and ice conditions on the St. Lawrence River and various canals; and navigation aids in the Great Lakes.

Records for the most part were created by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority but where kept by the successor organization, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, a private non-profit organization, after SLSA was dissolved in June of 1998 and SLSMC took over responsibility for SLSA's navigational assets on Oct. 1, 1998. The records were subsequently transferred to Transport Canada, which eventually transferred this collection to LAC.
