There are five versions (at various stages) of the novel Les grandes marées., First version: manuscript with several deletions and substitutions as well as editorial instructions on the backs of some sheets., Second version: manuscript with several deletions and substitutions, preceded by 19 typewritten sheets, all originally stored in an envelope marked "Les grandes marées // 2e brouillon à la main [2nd handwritten draft] // manuscrit (2e version) [manuscript (2nd version)]"., Third version: typescript with some handwritten deletions and substitutions (as well as corrections and handwritten comments from a third party), and a carbon copy of the same version, without corrections or comments and missing the first 51 pages, all originally stored in an envelope marked "Les grandes marées // Copie dactylo du 1er manuscrit [Typed copy of 1st manuscript]"., Fourth version: typescript with a number of handwritten deletions, substitutions and insertions, paginated separately for each of the 43 chapters of the novel, originally stored in an envelope marked "Les grandes marées // 2e manuscrit corrigé [2nd corrected manuscript]"., Fifth version: typescript (carbon copy) of the clean version of the novel, with only a few handwritten deletions and substitutions, originally stored in an envelope marked "Les grandes marées // copie dactylographiée du 2e manuscrit [typed copy of 2nd manuscript]".
