It consists of a wide range of subjects (items #1-1221), including First World War trench maps, overlays of Second World War Geographic Section, General Staff (GSGS) maps, tactical operations maps, with the majority of maps being 1944-1945 European situation maps. Please note that maps can be non-contemporary editions which DHH acquired to document operations, campaigns, and other subjects for their historical purposes.
This sub-sub-series also contains material with unclear provenance, from accession RG9M 80103-51.This material has varied subject matter, including but not limited to maps of the Western front in the First World War, and training camps in Canada in Great Britain. While this material was transferred to the archives separately, and there is no discernible provenance link between this material and the Cartographers Collection, this material has been described within this collection because of it similarity to the material here.
