Photograph depicting Mrs. Ken Green kneeling in the middle of a field. She is wearing an amauti and carrying a child on her back. In the background, many people are gathered around the edges of the field by two buildings. Most of the people gathered are Inuit. The photograph was taken in Apex (Niaqunngut), a suburb of Iqaluit. Iqaluit is a majority Inuit community. An amauti (also spelled amaut or amautik) is a type of parka, traditionally worn by the Inuit women of the Eastern Arctic, with a large hood for carrying children.
