The fonds documents Lépine's activities as a journalist and writer. It includes two series : Career in journalism and Activities as writer. The fonds includes files relating to his work as creator and host of the public affairs programmes Une Heure sur Terre and Zone Libre on Radio-Canada television; as interviewer and narrator for the television series Mémoires de Pierre Elliot Trudeau and for the documentary Claude Ryan, un homme engagé also on Radio-Canada television; and author of a biography of Quebec actress Janine Sutto (Janine Sutto, Vivre avec le destin) and his memoirs (Sur la ligne de feu).

Lépine, Jean-François, 1949- : Born on April 18th, 1949, Jean-François Lépine has a bachelor degree in political science from Laval University and a Masters in political science from the Université du Québec à Montréal. He was a scholarship Phd student of the Institut Québécois des relations internationales in 1974. Lépine started his career at the radio of Radio-Canada in 1971 as news editor-reporter which led him to become journalist and host for the radio magazine "Présent" from 1975 to 1978. He was parliamentary correspondent for the television news of Radio-Canada in Quebec City from 1978 to 1981 and a foreign correspondent for Radio-Canada in Bejing (1983-1986), Paris (1986-1988) and Jerusalem (1988-1990). Back in Canada, he created and hosted the investigative journalism weekly magazine "Enjeux" (1990-1992) and became host of the daily news analysis programme "Le Point" from 1992 to 1998. Lépine was host and reporter for the weekly magazine of in-depth news features "Zone Libre" (1998-2007) and for the first Radio-Canada television programme dedicated exclusively to international news, "Une Heure sur Terre" (2007-2013). Following the cancellation of "Une Heure sur Terre", Lépine announced his retirement from Radio-Canada and became an international analyst, speaker and associate, communications and governmental affairs, at Avistra International inc. In January 2016, M. Lépine was appointed Representative of the Quebec government in China.

Jean-François Lépine is the author of two books: a biography of the Quebec actress Janine Sutto ("Janine Sutto, Vivre avec le destin") in 2011 and his memoirs as journalist ("Sur la ligne de feu") in 2014.
