Cette série documente les activités de Jean-François Lépine comme journaliste. Elle comprend les dossiers personnels de M. Lépine reliés à la genèse et au processus de création et de production des grandes émissions d'enquêtes et de journalisme international à Radio-Canada, "Zone Libre" (1998-2007) et "Une Heure sur Terre "(2007-2013). Les dossiers reliés à "Zone Libre" comprennent, entre autres, des rapports des visites et des analyses des grandes émissions d'affaires publiques américaines et européennes de l'époque, les textes de présentation pour les émissions, une photo de Lépine avec Stéphane Bureau et Bernard Derome ainsi que d'autres notes et documents personnels accumulés par Lépine concernant l'émission.
La série comprend également les dossiers personnels de Lépine pour chacune des 132 émissions d'"Une Heure sur Terre", y compris des cartes de présentations, des plans de montage, des notes, des courriels avec des intervenants et les journalistes concernant les reportages, des documents de recherche, etc. On y retrouve également des documents concernant la planification pour chaque année de programmation de l'émission. Ces dossiers comprennent entre autres des résumés de rencontres de planification, des échanges de courriels entre les membres de l'équipe responsable de l'émission, et entre Lépine et la haute gestion de la Société Radio-Canada concernant les ressources requises pour développer l'émission, des calendriers d'émissions, des listes de sujets possibles, etc.
Les activités journalistiques de Lépine sont également documentées dans les dossiers reliés à sa participation à un documentaire sur Claude Ryan et au projet télévisé des "Mémoires de Pierre Elliott Trudeau". On retrouve des transcriptions d'entrevues de Lépine avec plusieurs personnalités québécoises et canadiennes qui livrent leurs impressions sur diverses facettes de la vie de Ryan ainsi que des notes de recherche qui ont servi à la réalisation du documentaire "Claude Ryan, un homme engagé". D'autres dossiers documentent les rôles d'intervieweur et de narrateur de Lépine pour la série documentaire Mémoires de Trudeau. Finalement, on retrouve également dans la série quelques dossiers concernant une série de reportages réalisés par Lépine en Chine en 2006.
