Sub-sub-series consists of records from the National Research Council's (NRC's) Executive Offices - Regional Innovation Centre (Ottawa) and that were filed in the NRC's central File Information System, second version (FISv2).

The Regional Innovation Forum aimed to "stimulate technology-intensive economic activities in the [Ottawa] region through the use of capabilities represented by the presence of national laboratories, the National Research Council, industry, universities and other technology-based organizations in the National Capital Region." The Forum was an initiative of the NRC, in cooperation with the Ottawa Economic Development Corporation and the Ottawa Centre for Research & Innovation. The Forum's terms of reference included: sponsoring an annual forum roundtable and developping an action plan on issues emerging at that roundtable; work to remove barriers to innovation in the National Capital Region; increasing the commercialization of technologies from government laboratories; and championing specific new technological opportunities.

The sub-sub-series' textual records include but are not limited to: forum agendas, minutes, and reports; reports on commercialization and innovation submitted to the NRC; and various administrative records such as food orders related to the organization of the fora.

The sub-sub-series also consists of audiovisual recordings titled "NRC Entrepreneurship Program - Series of 'Best Practices in Commercialization' Workshops - Financing Commercialization and Evaluating Technology - A Best Practices Workshop, NRC, Ottawa, 6-7 May 1998"; the first VHS tape runs 5 hrs 8 min, and the second runs 5 hrs 41 min.
