Lépine, Jean-François, 1949- : Jean-François Lépine, né le 18 avril 1949 à Montréal, détient un baccalauréat en science politiques de l'université Laval et une maîtrise en sciences politiques de l'université de Québec à Montréal. En 1974, il est boursier de l'Institut québécois des relations internationales pour des études de doctorat effectuées à Paris. Lépine commence sa carrière de journaliste à la radio de Radio-Canada en 1971 comme rédacteur-reporter aux nouvelles pour devenir ensuite animateur de l'émission "Présent" de 1975 à 1978. Il est correspondant parlementaire à Québec pour la télévision de Radio-Canada de 1978 à 1981. Il devient par la suite correspondant à l'étranger : on le retrouve à Pékin (1983-1986), Paris (1986-1988) et Jérusalem (1988-1990). De retour au Canada, il crée et anime l'émission de journalisme d'enquête "Enjeux" (1990-1992) et devient animateur de l'émission "Le Point" de 1992 à 1998. Il est ensuite animateur-reporter pour le magazine hebdomadaire de grands reportages "Zone libre" de 1998 à 2007 et pour la première émission consacrée exclusivement à l'actualité internationale de Radio-Canada, "Une Heure sur Terre" de 2007 à 2013. Suite à l'annulation d'"Une Heure sur Terre", il annonce son départ à la retraite de la société d'État. M. Lépine occupe ensuite le poste d'analyste international, conférencier et associé, communications et affaires gouvernementales, au sein d'Avistra International inc. En janvier 2016, Jean-François Lépine est nommé directeur des représentations du gouvernement du Québec en Chine.
Jean-François Lépine est l'auteur de deux livres: une biographie de la comédienne québécoise Janine Sutto, "Janine Sutto, Vivre avec le destin", publiée en 2011, et ses mémoires de journaliste, "Sur la ligne de feu", parues en 2014.
Durant sa carrière de journaliste, Lépine s'est mérité plusieurs distinctions professionnelles : meilleure documentaire d'information décerné par la Communauté des télévisions de langue française (1986), onze prix Gémeaux pour reportages et animation d'émission d'information de 1987 à 2010, le prix Judith-Jasmin de journalisme en 1989 et 2000, le prix de journalisme d'Amnistie Internationale en 2002, et le prix Raymond-Charette pour sa contribution exemplaire à la diffusion d'un français de qualité en tant que journaliste en 2012.
De 2011 à 2015, il est président de l'Observatoire sur le Moyen-Orient et l'Afrique du Nord (OMAN) de l'Université du Québec à Montréal. Jean-François Lépine est nommé officier de l'Ordre du Canada en juin 2012.
