Fonds consists of a manuscript memoir written by Graham Lochhead. The bulk of the manuscript focuses on his time working in the federal public service on transportation policy and on the research and development of transportation technologies. He also discusses his career in private industry, his personal life, and the history of Canadian shipbuilding.

Lochhead, Graham, 1934-2005 : Graham Lochhead, shipbuilder, veteran and public servant, was born at Dunbartonshire, Scotland, in 1934. After service with the Royal Air Force (RAF), he trained as a naval architect and worked for a shipbuilding firm on the River Clyde, Scotland. In 1959, he immigrated to Canada and began working for Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company Limited (later known as Irving Shipbuilding) at Saint John, New Brunswick. He was recruited to the shipbuilding division of the Department of Industry where he worked in research and development of transportation technologies and government responses to transportation issues. After retiring from the public service, he lived in Gatineau, Québec. He died in 2005.
