Series consists of documents related to the project of the Queen Elizabeth II Telescope. (In 1964 the Cabinet of the Government of Canada approved the construction of a 150-inch telescope in Mount Kobau National Institute and named it to commemorate the visit of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. But the project was finally rejected by the government and the new telescope constructed in Chile.)

The series contains documents related to the participation of C.S. Beals in this project. It contains reports, bulletins, papers, minutes of meetings of the National Advisory Committee on Astronomy and of the Science Working Group on Astronomy as well as a general documentation and correspondence related to the project (of particular interest is an exchange of letters between C.S. Beals and the Prime Minister P.E. Trudeau.) It contains also publications on the project ("A Large Optical Telescope for Canada" by R.M. Petrie "The Queen Elizabeth II Optical Telescope" by G.J. Odgers and L.C. Secord and others). It contains finally 7 technical drawings of the 150" telescope tube proposal designed by C.A. Brealey.
