Sub-series consists of files dealing with Bill C-57, the Banks and Banking Law Revision Act of 1978. (The act was concerned with the safety of depositors' funds and the power of foreign / international banks). A large number of files contain correspondence in alpha files by name of individual or corporate entity. This is high-level correspondence with financial institutions, banks, the Treasury Board and other ministries, politicians (MPs, MLAs, the Leader of the Opposition Joe Clark), the Minister of Finance Jean Chretien, businesses, unions and diverse federations. There are also informational materials and other documents germane to the direction in which the reform led.
