The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has traditionally relied on various committees to support the fulfillment of its mandate. Over the years, Associate Committees have been created to provide specialized scientific and technical advice required by the Council. Committee members, who are drawn from universities, industry and government, are acknowledged experts in their particular scientific field. In principle, these committees have a finite lifespan, since they are convened to address specific problems and then disbanded. A number of Associate Committees, however, have been in existence for many years as a result of the nature of their work. Each of these committees often creates special committees or sub-committees to focus on specific aspects of their mandate.
Accession consists of reports, minutes of meetings, briefs, studies, etc., created by NRC Associate committees and systematically collected by the Associate Committee's Secretariat. The files are part of the '12MAS-2025' file block.
