This accession consists of records created by the Ministry of State for Economic Development and the Ministry of State for Economic and Regional Development, but were transferred to and maintained by the Office of Regional Development in the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion (DRIE). In addition, some of these files were created by the Office of Regional Development. As such, these files are given DRIE file blocks, but were originally filed according to the classification structure of MSED/MSERD. Please refer to MSED/MSERD accessions for similar files.

This accession consists of administration and organization files related to the running of MSED/MSERD, as well as files related to the transfer of activities to the Office of Regional Development. Also included are internal senior management committee files (file block 220), briefings books to the Minister and senior management, as well as internal audits. In addition, there are files related to the Policy & Expenditure Management System for MSED/MSERD (with the original file block number 1520).

In addition, this accession consists of files from the new file block "1705": Atlantic Fisheries Development East Coast (former file block 2300); file block "1725": Energy - General (former file block 2200); file block "1727": Energy - Coal (former file block 2220); "1785": Shipbuilding (former file block 3080); "1790": Technology Development; "1793": Tourism; and, "1797" Trade".

This accession further consists of regional development policy files from MSED/MSERD which were given the new file number: "3000": Regional Development Policy (former file block 5400). Subjects in this file block include: General, Eastern Initiatives, Quebec Initiatives, and Western Initiatives. For earlier files on this subject, please see accession 2016-00307-3.
