Canada. Property and Building Management Branch : The Property and Building Management Branch first appeared as a distinct unit within the Department of Public Works in 1954 following a reorganization. It was headed by a director and had the responsibility to manage land and buildings but had a function that was distinct from the Harbours and Rivers Engineering Branch, Development Engineering Branch, and Building Construction Branch, which oversaw the development of projects. In 1967 the Property and Building Management Branch became a function carried out under each of the broader 'regional offices' organizational units rather than as a branch in and of itself.
