The series comprises the records of the Members' meetings and Council meetings of the Health Council of Canada. For the Members, the series holds agendas, minutes, and background or briefing material. The Members generally met twice yearly with one of these meetings being the Annual General Meeting. For the Council meetings, the series holds the final minutes, agendas, and occasionally planning documents. The Council generally met quarterly with occasional teleconferences. The minutes of the 2009 Council meeting in Winnipeg gives a representative idea of the range of issues covered which, at that meeting, included a discussion of the strategic plan and future role of the Council; a presentation on the sustainability of the healthcare system from Manitoba's perspective; a presentation on efforts to address health disparities in Manitoba's First Nations population; a report on the McMaster Health Forum; and a presentation by Dr. Robert Ouellet, President of the Canadian Medical Association, on its efforts to transform Canada's healthcare system to ensure timely access to care for Canadians.
