This sub-series consists of records relating to Canadian Toy Testing Council's Literacy Program. Also known as the Book Evaluation Program, the records here primarily consist of completed evaluation forms by volunteer readers.

As noted in a 2003 overview, in 1998 the CTTC researched the possibility of reviewing children's books utilizing the existing "testing family" network and in capturing the "children's perspective". In 1999, the National Literacy Secretariat awarded the CTTC with seed funding to carry out a project to examine and review new French and English books written by Canadian authors and published by Canadian publishers. For a number of years, the CTTC, with the support of the National Literacy Secretariat, published a pamplet entitled "25 Great Books for Children".

There are also planning reports, correspondence, and promotional material for books that were determined to be award winners.

Finally, within this sub-series are planning documents relating to the CTTC publications "25 Great Books for Children" and "The Importance of Reading with Children".

Related material:

Two boxes of children's books arrived with the acquisition of material from CTTC. These books were sent to the National Library to be integrated into their collection, and will be available for consultation via Amicus in due course.
