This accession is composed of operational registry files related to the language training program. The Public Service Commission administered language training continuously from 1964 to 2004. The Commission administers the program as a delegated authority from Treasury Board which continued to develop the official languages policy framework within which the Public Service Commission developed its delivery program. Organizationally the program has assumed a variety of forms. The program assumed the status of a special operating agency incorporated into the administrative universe of the Public Service Commission in the early 1990s. In 2004, the Canada School of Public Service assumed administration of the program.
The records in this accession document such administrative subjects as organization and management committees and such operational topics as program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, courses, test performance of candidates, teaching methodology, complaints, advisory services and marketing. They also include various reports and statistical studies.
