This series documents the development carried out by Stelco in relation to sales and marketing activities. Stelco built a strong strategy in marketing to keep up a constant relationship with customers and stakeholders. Stelco measured its sales performance by hiring sales officers across the country who collected data on all products, made statistics and analyzed the information. These analyses are available in this series. They were used by corporate officers to define commercial planning strategies and implement solutions for correcting and improving Stelco sales performance. They could help to provide to researchers an accurate picture of Stelco true sales and marketing business. Files consist of monthly, quarterly and yearly statements, abstracts and table sheets of net sales and manufacturing profits described by departments, mills and products. They also include comparisons of sales listed by territories, comparisons with employment costs and lists of importations versus shipments.

Marketing is an important component of the sale process. This activity consists of publishing promotional material that advertised products and advertised that Stelco thought its customers would be interested in. These records include catalogues of products, price lists, promotional booklets, advertising material and visitor brochures.

Additional records in this series pertain to The Tariff Board Inquiry and The Board of Railway Commissioners for Canada regarding Eastern and Western rates cases. They include correspondence, memos and submissions prepared by Stelco.
