This sub-series contains all the raw footage of the recording of Chief Jake Thomas' recitation of the Great Law of the Iroquois as well as the question and answer sessions that took place throughout the nine days of the recital. There were three cameras recording the recitation; there are 39 videocassettes of footage each from camera one and three, and nine videocassettes of footage from camera two. The 87 videocassettes in this sub-series can be accessed through MISACS using the following IDC numbers: 486845; 486850-486861; 486863-486888; 489281-489289; 489292-489297; 489300-489329; 489331-489333.This sub-series will be of interest to researchers studying Aboriginal culture, oral histories, film-making - in particular, editing - and performance studies. The transcripts of the entire recitation, some of the question and answer sessions, and some interviews can be found in the Operational and Production files and are an invaluable resource to researchers.

Custodial history:

These videocassettes were kept at the home of the producers, Robert and Brenda Rooney, until they were acquired by LAC in 2011.
