General note:

Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Marine Safety Directorate of the Department of Transport. These records are filed in the 9708 series for reported wrecks and cover the last few cases of the year 1988 and all reported cases of the year 1989. Each file is a folio that is marked with the assigned case ID. The completeness of the contents of the folio can vary; some folios are empty, some are quite substantial and include correspondence, background information (new clippings, certification of ship & crew, etc.), and reporting, including an official factual audit, but most contain an amount of documentation that lies somewhere in between.
