Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions. Côte-Nord Regional Office in Sept-Îles : The regional office in Sept-Îles, Quebec, was established in May 1987 under the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion (DRIE). In 1990, DRIE was absorbed by the new Department of Industry, Science and Technology (ISTC), and this regional office was managed by their regional development office. In 1991, however, the organizational unit responsible for regional economic development in Quebec was separated from ISTC to become a separate departmental agency called the Federal Office of Regional Economic Development-Quebec (FORD-Q). The regional office in Sept-Îles was named the North Shore (Côte-Nord) regional office. It retained this name through FORD-Q's transformation into CED in 1998 and CED's reorganization of its regional offices in 2012.
