Accession also contains records relating to Copyright Board of Canada and Patents, including records relating to the final decision of the Harvard Oncomouse. In Harvard College v.Canada (Commissioner of Patents) the Supreme Court of Canada held that a higher life form is not patentable because it is not a "manufacture" or" composition of matter" within the meaning of "invention" in the Patent Act. An Oncomouse is a type of laboratory mouse that has been genetically altered.
