In 1982, Eldorado bought Gulf Minerals Canada Limited Companys (GMCL) from Gulf Canada Limited. One of GMCL's principal concerns was the development of uranium mining sites around Rabbit Lake, in Saskatchewan. Eldorado also bought the assets of a German-owned, Canadian-incorporated company called Uranerz, which had entered into a joint venture with GMCL in 1970 to develop the Rabbit Lake sites.
The files in this accession concern the Rabbit Lake Site.

Many file labels begin with : "Mine Development Rabbit Lake" or "Mine & Mill Operation Rabbit Lake." Label sub-topics include, but are not limited to : feasibility studies, preliminary estimates, project and progress plans and reports, proposed project master schedule, cost control procedures, Collins Bay Townsite plans, air transportation, contracts & administration, monthly operating reports, insurance, accident prevention & occupational health, accounting, facilities mill, various studies (environmental, mining, hydrology), evaluation of various processes, etc.

Additional records are on similar topics, even if not so labelled. Records in boxes 9-11 and 13-14 pertain primarily to the geology of the site, and include discussions of ore reserves, drilling data, permits, chemical assays, glacial geology, petrography, electromagnetic field survey and gamma log interpretation, field notes etc. as well as operating cost review, and studies (e.g., employment and transportation benefits). Files in box 12 also include proposals for various engineering services and address project management. Box 15 includes correspondence, as well as documentation pertaining to housing, tailing disposal, studies (e.g., soil, transportation) and more. Box 22 also includes reports on the topics of uranium recovery processes, and the removal of radium from effluent samples.

Maps and architectural drawings are included throughout the accession.
