Collection search - Questionnaire - Thomas Fee, settled in Emily in 1820

In 1853 the Department of Agriculture for Canada West sent a printed questionnaire to a number of persons who had immigrated to Canada in the previous forty-five to fifty years. It is not known how many were completed, but forty-one have survived. The questions answered on this questionnaire include: name; Church affiliation; Country, County, Parish and Post Town from which immigrant came; occupation there; date of arrival in Canada; age, marital status, ages and sexes of family if any; financial state; place settled; and many more details concerning the land owned, stock, produce, etc. at the time the questionnaire was completed.
