General note:

This accession contains the publication: A General Map of the Empire of Germany, Holland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Grisons, Italy, Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia. By Captain Chauchard, &c. Dedicated by permission to His Majesty. / published by John Stockdale, June 4, 1800 and held by the Dominion Archives Library. Maps are engraved and mounted on linen. Some maps include hand coloured features depicting towns, fortified cities and roadways in red, and rivers and lakes in blue.

This set of maps is complete and includes all 25 sheets, plus index, cover and dedication page. A photocopy of the index page is also included.

Custodial history:

The exact provenance and date of reception by LAC is unknown. This material was loaned to Memorial University and returned to Ed Dahl, National Archives of Canada in 1992. These maps were registered during the move from the West Memorial Building in 2004-5.
