Collection search - Ordnance Survey of Scotland - National map collection [cartographic material]

This accession contains the 3rd edition of the Ordnance Surveys of Scotland, one inch to the mile maps of Scotland, published between 1903 and 1919, which were held by the National Map Collection, Public Archives of Canada.

This set of maps are part of the coloured version of the third edition and include contours as well as outlines, hills shaded in brown and woods shaded in green. Maps in this publication series were engraved and printed by the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, U.K. These maps portray various counties of Scotland and were originally surveyed between 1845 and 1875; revisions for the 3rd edition were made between 1901 and 1919.

This is an incomplete set, containing only 45 of the 131 sheets. A photocopy of the 1935 index is also included.

Added to the Public Archives of Canada, Map Division on September 25, 1972. The exact provenance is unknown.
