Canada. Dept. of Canadian Heritage. Publishing Policy and Programs : Publishing Policy and Programs was a directorate within the former Department of Communications. When Communications was dissolved by Parliament and the Department of Canadian Heritage was created in 1994, Heritage assumed responsibility for the former department's publishing-related activities. Part of Heritage's Cultural Industries Branch, Publishing Policy and Programs provides support for the Canadian publishing industry through programs such as the Canada Book Fund (formerly the Book Publishing Industry Development Program) and the Canada Periodical Fund.
